Rain Rain Go Away!

So, I biked home in the rain once again. It wasn’t raining at NUS and so I decided to carry on. Then there was little droplets of water and I proceeded thinking that it was nothing. Then it got bigger and by the time I was near home it was raining cats and dogs and I was drenched! Even then, I decided not to stop and put on my raincoat since I was so near… So near but yet so far… The rain felt like a million needles poking you, and it also felt like I was swimming in the antarticas. Oh well, at least I’m safe and dry and warm in the comfort of my room now. Ok, not quite warm since my new fan seems to be super powerful, even though I set it to the slowest speed.

Anyway, being the Economist that I am, I realise that people really do respond to incentives. Like duh! And sleep is one of the strongest motivators out there. I went to school early for lessons @ 9am. I was supposed to have lessons until 6, and then a project meeting at 630pm. However, the project meeting got cancelled, and so I was supposed to end at 6. Then I thought to myself, the tutorial at 5 to 6 can be skipped and I can go home at 4 to sleep since I have a break from 4 to 5. Further into my lessons I thought that the programming lab too could be skipped since I did not have much to do at the lab anyways so I could go home at 2! By the end of the lesson, I decided not to go for the Statistics lecture since the lecturer would put me to sleep anyway.  So here I am, through the rain and at home @ 12! For a day that was supposed to end at 7+ and which ended @ 12 I think that is really good!

On a side note, I got 34/40 for my Econs Mid Term MCQ test, so I guess last minute studying really does pay off!

33% Done!

33 is a nice number, since I’m 33% done with my exam papers! Had my EE2007 paper today, which I found to be rather easy. Hopefully, I’ll get an A for this module, since my other modules seem to be doomed for failure. The last minute studying probably did pay off afterall. To all those who don’t believe last minute studying is any good, believe it now! Heh, which reminds me about an “argument” with my dear boss some time back, something about last minute studying. I maintained that last minute studying was useful, and I always only study at the eleventh hour, but she maintained that if she were to only study last minute, then she might as well not study since shes doomed to fail the paper anyway. Well, not sure who’s right, but to me, a last minute studying does provide a false sense of security, whereas not studying will provide you with no sense of security whatsoever! She maintains that no sense of security would be better than a false sense of security, but who am I to argue with her, she IS my boss afterall :P As they say, the boss is always right (yea right :P)

So, why am I awake at such an unearthly hour? Well, I can only blame Starhub and TODAY, for not getting the time of the soccer match between Liverpool and Porto right. A check with various sources showed different timings from each of them. Therefore, being the great Liverpool fan that I am, and not wanting to miss the match, I set my alarm clock for the earliest time that the match was supposed to start, and found out it only starts at 0345am! Therefore, here I am rambling about some nonsense, rather than lying in my bed sleeping after spending the day studying! Theoretically, I can start studying for my next paper, but to stick by my principals and only study at the 11th hour, I can only start studying next monday, since the paper on tuesday. Ya right, I will start studying earlier than that… I hope :P

Anyway, it’s still 1 hour to the match, so I have more time to rant about some stuff. Anyone likes it when it rains? Don’t get me wrong, I like the rain too, when I am at home wanting to sleep at least. Times I hate when it rains is when I’m on my bike, on the way to someplace, and it starts to rain like there’s no tomorrow. And these times have been occuring more frequently as of late, probably due to the rainy season. And I hate it even more, when I’m drenched from the rain, and my exam paper is in a freezing cold multipurpose sports hall. Oh well, at least the paper was easy.

And the next topic of my boredness would be – changing gas for cooking! Well, not really on the gas or for cooking, but rather on how they give calendars whenever you change gas for your gas stove. I’m not sure how cooking works in newer houses now, but at my place we still use those blue gas cylinders to fuel our cooking stove! So, today ours ran out and we changed it, and tada we get a new calendar! Not sure why they give calendars whenever you change your gas cylinders, but they do, and you can always expect it from them. Anyway, the calendar this time caught my eye, since on the cover was 2 rats. That could only mean that next year is the year of the rat, and would also mean I would be 24 years old! Gosh, how time flies! Anyway, here’s a photo I snapped of the 2 rats. I think we should call them mouses, since mouses sound cuter than rats, and those mouses definitely look cute.

Ratatouille!

Another thing that caught my eye, was some bread that my mother bought. It caught my eye, because it was shaped like a turtle, and this conversation followed…

me picks up the bread
me: what bread is this?
mom: tuna
me: it’s not tuna it’s a turtle!
mom: it’s tuna!
me: but it’s a turtle
mom walks off, not bothering about me

Well, I’m not sure why they decide to shape the bread like this, maybe the turtle got hungry and ate some tuna? As for whether it’s a turtle or tuna, I’ll leave that for you to decide!
